Abstract

Institutions, including the law, are the bedrock of well-functioning political and economic order. Our era has seen significant erosion of institutions around the world, including the United States.

On February 24, 2026, Dean Adam Chilton and Professor Tom Ginsburg engaged in a special discussion, presented in partnership with the Malyi Center for the Study of Institutional and Legal Integrity, on how legal institutions have been subjected to pressure and influence in several countries, and what we have learned about the sources of vulnerability and resilience in the face of challenges.
