Abstract

A tribute to Wilber G. Katz, who was a law professor and dean of the law school from 1939 to 1950. One of his colleagues and friends, Professor Kalven remembers Professor Katz’s attempts to learn baseball, the work that Professor Katz did in creating the University of Chicago Law Review, and Professor Katz’s gifts as a teacher (his ability to interweave the substance of the class with other things and his ability to plan a class).
